Signs of a bad battery and alternator
A sign of a bad battery is a significant drop in voltage below 12.6 voltage, or any difficulty starting the car or not starting at all.
Signs of a bad alternator is low voltage when the vehicle is running, a significant drop in voltage when the accessories are turned on. or the car is stalling when electrical loads are places on it. Both will be tested with a multimeter.

Why we test the battery and alternator
Using a multimeter, we test a cars alternator and battery to early diagnose electrical problems, to ensure optimal performance and lifetime use of the components, and prevent any future breakdowns or costly repairs.
Using the multimeter, it allows a quick and easy measurement of voltage, providing crucial information about the health of these important electrical components and any possibly needed steps to take next.

What we look for
We ensure battery terminals are clean, tight, and free of corrosion. We will also do a check of the alternator's output terminal and ground connection for any issues, all done with a thorough and careful inspection. When testing with the multimeter, we look for a healthy battery voltage between 12.4 and 12.9 volts.
When testing the alternator, it should produce a voltage reading between 13.8 and 14.5 volts.
